Building Schools for the Future Survey

|

We would welcome parents, staff and pupils' contributions to the survey about a new school for Workington. Even if it doesn't directly affect older pupils, if they remain in the area, their children will most likely attend a new secondary school so it is vital for everyone to have their say.

Experience and research shows that a secondary school with a sixth form for pupils to move into gives pupils more aspiration and raises expectations of further education, higher education and lifelong learning so the option of having a sixth form attached to any new school should be seriously considered.

Transportation and travel for pupils attending a new school should also be taken into account when looking at locations. It would be hoped that road transport wouldn't have to increase for the bulk of Workington students as has happened in other towns.
